Life Insurance Co. of North America wrongfully terminated benefits, woman claims

Insurance 01

PHILADELPHIA – A Maryland woman formerly employed by PPL Services Corp. claims her disability benefits were unlawfully terminated.

Julia Lonoconus filed a complaint on July 31 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against Life Insurance Co. of North America citing the Employee Retirement Income Security Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she became disabled in November 2013 because of herniated discs, degenerative disc disease, arthritis, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, plantar fasciitis. The suit states she applied for disability benefits with the defendant, who approved the benefits and then terminated them in July 2016.

The plaintiff holds Life Insurance Co. of North America responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to adopt reasonable standards for the investigation and processing of insurance claims.

The plaintiff seeks monthly benefits due to the plaintiff. She is represented by Jason Newfield of Frankel & Newfield PC in Garden City, New York.
