Man alleges he meets the definition of disability to receive benefits from Aetna Life

Contract 10

ERIE – A Brownsville man alleges that he can no longer work because of a medical condition and that his claim for long-term disability benefits was wrongfully denied.

Robert Redman filed a complaint on Aug. 17 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania against Aetna Life Insurance Co. alleging violation of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he was diagnosed with chronic colitis and applied for disability benefits from the defendant in November 2016 but was denied.

The plaintiff holds Aetna Life Insurance Co. responsible because the plaintiff claims he has established his disability according to the meaning of the plan.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount that exceeds the jurisdictional limits of this court, court costs, interest and any further relief the court grants. He is represented by Max Petrunya of Robert Peirce & Associates PC in Pittsburgh.
