PITTSBURGH – A Pittsburgh woman alleges she was injured because the stock pot she was using was defective.

Sherri Howell filed a complaint on Oct. 18 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania against Columbian Home Products LLC alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Oct. 26, 2015, she was injured when the handle of the defendant's Granite Ware pot separated from the pot while she was moving it to another burner, causing it to spill its contents of boiling water, butter and beans. The plaintiff alleges that she fell and was burned by the pot's contents.

The plaintiff holds Columbian Home Products LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to properly manufacture their pots or provide adequate warnings.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount of more than $75,000 plus interest and court costs. She is represented by Daniel S. Schiffman and Jason M. Schiffman of Schiffman Firm LLC in Pittsburgh.
