Erie Insurance refutes defenses of dehumidifier manufacturer in suit over $360K house fire

PITTSBURGH – An Erie insurance company is seeking to repudiate defenses put forward by the manufacturers of a dehumidifier, which allegedly caused a fire leading to nearly $360,000 in property damages.

PHILADELPHIA – A coalition of Philadelphia restaurateurs who filed a lawsuit against The City of Philadelphia and its Mayor Jim Kenney over the City’s “Safer At Home” order, which banned indoor dining until this past New Year’s Day to protect citizens from the spread of COVID-19, have dismissed the case.

Penn State University master's student sues after it rescinds her degree

PHILADELPHIA – A Penn State University student alleges that the school rescinded her Master’s Degree more than a year and a half after she was awarded it, claiming that the plaintiff didn’t produce wholly original work, a charge the plaintiff says is untrue.

PHILADELPHIA – A federal judge has agreed that an insurance policy’s virus exclusion clause does in fact preclude businesses from staking a claim to income losses and expenses sustained during state-ordered shutdowns, resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic.

PITTSBURGH – A Western Pennsylvania woman who was allegedly assaulted and kidnapped by her now-deceased ex-boyfriend in September has filed suit against his estate to recover money she lent him.
