A Bensalem woman has sued Starbucks, alleging employment law violation.

Chong Ja Kim-Cohen filed a lawsuit May 18 against Starbucks Corporation in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, alleging civil rights infringement and wrongful termination in June 2014.

According to the complaint, Kim-Cohen, 63, was hired by the defendant in early 1999, worked at various Starbucks locations for 15 years, and from 2005 on, the plaintiff managed the store at 1201 Walnut St., Philadelphia.

The suit states a new district manager terminated Kim-Cohen suddenly June 16, 2014 with no reason and replaced her with a younger employee. The complaint alleges Starbucks habitually targets older workers.

The plaintiff cites injuries, damages and losses and ADEA violation.

Kim-Cohen seeks: declarative judgment, injunctive action, and damages for lost earnings and benefits; compensatory relief; interest; attorney fees; and court costs. She is represented by attorney Kevin Console of Console Law Offices in Philadelphia.
