Harrah's Chester Casino faces premises liability lawsuit

A Philadelphia man is suing a Chester County gaming hall for injuries he allegedly suffered while gambling at the business.

Philadelphia attorney Alfonso Gambone filed the premises liability lawsuit May 31 at the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas on behalf of William Walker.

According to the civil complaint, Walker was playing the slot machines at Harrah’s Chester Casino, at 777 Harrah’s Boulevard in suburban Philadelphia, when the doors to one of the machines became ajar and fell on Walker’s right knee.

Walker sustained a contusion and a severe sprain, and is accusing the casino of negligence and carelessness for not ensuring the machines were safe for public use, the lawsuit states.

Walker alleges in his complaint that the incident caused him to sustain soft tissue damage, permanent limitations on his mobility and has required him to expend various sums for medical attention.

Walker will suffer “excruciating pain,” aches, mental anguish, humiliation, inconvenience, physical pain and will be prevented from carrying out his daily duties and responsibilities because of the incident, the lawsuit alleges.

Walker is seeking a judgment against the defendant in excess of the arbitration limits, which in common pleas court is $50,000.

An arbitration hearing has been set in this non-jury matter for Feb. 1, 2012 at the city’s arbitration center.

The case number is 110503406.
