Rear-end vehicle collision leads to personal injury suit

Two Northwest Philadelphia residents are embroiled in a lawsuit stemming from a rear-end vehicle collision that took place two years ago in the city’s Germantown section.

Attorney Bruce L. Neff, of the Philadelphia firm of Neff and Associates, filed the personal injury claim Aug. 26 at the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas on behalf of Linya Mason.

The complaint claims that Mason suffered severe and debilitating physical injuries after becoming involved in a rear-end collision with defendant Willam R. Jackson, Jr.

According to the lawsuit, Mason was driving her vehicle eastbound on Coulter Street near the intersection with Wayne Avenue back on Dec. 22, 2009, when, while sitting at a red light, her vehicle was hit from behind by a vehicle driven by Jackson.

The accident caused Mason to sustain various bodily injuries, including, but not limited to, injuries to her spine, bones, tissues, muscles, discs and a worsening of pre-existing arthritic conditions in her body.

“As a result of the incident aforementioned, Plaintiff has undergone severe physical pain and suffering, mental anguish, humiliation and embarrassment, loss of life’s pleasures, and will continue to endure same for an indefinite time in the future, to Plaintiff’s great detriment and loss,” the lawsuit states.

Mason has also suffered a loss of income due to her inability to work, and she is expected to suffer the same for an indeterminate amount of time in the future, the suit claims.

Mason has also had to expend various sums of money on medical and rehabilitative treatment, and she has been subject to various liens asserted as a result of the medical treatment she is receiving and will be obliged to receive in the future.

“The amount of these liens is the direct and proximate result of the accident aforementioned,” the suit claims.

Mason demands judgment against Jackson in a sum in excess of $50,000, together with interest and related court costs.

A jury trial has been demanded.

The case number is 110803902.
