Pennsylvania’s high court has expanded its online case database to include information

involving landlord-tenant cases and civil cases of less than $12,000 that are filed with magisterial district courts across the commonwealth.

The Administrative Office of Pennsylvania Courts announced earlier this week that the electronic docket sheets for more than 4.1 million of these types of cases would be available on the website of the state’s Unified Judicial System, which is www.pacourts.us.

The online database also contains records for about 27 million traffic, non-traffic and criminal cases filed in Pennsylvania’s appellate courts, criminal divisions of the Common Pleas trial courts, and magisterial district courts.

Records can be searched by the type of court, the case category and status, the docket number and type, the particular county and the participant’s name, date of birth and date of the date of filing.

The AOPC stated that last year alone, members of the public accessed these types of case records more than 53 million times through Internet visits.

There is no cost to access the records.

“The decision to expand online access to magisterial district civil and landlord-tenant cases is consistent with the Supreme Court’s commitment to provide easy access to court records,” the AOPC said in a statement.
