Kohl's customer sues department store for wet floor slip

Pansini

A Bucks County woman says that a local Kohl's department store did not properly maintain

the area surrounding a recently cleaned floor, causing her to slip and sustain bodily injuries.

Christine Smizaski, of Doylestown, seeks damages in excess of $50,000 from the retail corporation, the company contracted to clean the store and the business that produces the slippery substance she stepped on.

According to the complaint, Smizaski was shopping at the Kohl's Doylestown store on May 24, 2012, when she stepped on an unknown substance and fell to the floor. The fall caused her to sustain serious and permanent injuries to her face, head, neck, back, arms and legs, as well as bones, tendons and other internal damage.

The plaintiff says that Kohl's allegedly failed to inspect the flooring and install safeguards to prevent accidents such as hers, as did the cleaning staff's failure to properly secure the area from pedestrians.

Smizaski is represented by Michael Pansini, esq., of Pansini & Mezrow in Philadelphia.

The case ID number is 140503215.
