Infinite Care defrauded Medicaid out of $1 million, AG Kane says

Kane kathleen

HARRISBURG - State Attorney General Kathleen Kane alleged on Wednesday that Infinite Care, Inc. and its sister company, Infinite Care Special Needs, participated in a $1 million Medicaid scheme to fraudulently bill for services they didn't provide.

A grand jury recently recommended charges be filed against the Philadelphia companies, along with Vice President Julio Miranda and Treasurer Wanda De Martinez.

Since January 2010, the company has allegedly hired patients’ family members to care for patients, but billed Medicaid for 24-hour medical service.

It also allegedly failed to provide other services that were billed to Medicaid, and also allegedly destroyed paperwork after being subpoenaed by the grand jury.

"Infinite Care exploited a program designed to provide health care to our most vulnerable citizens and instead lined its pockets at taxpayer expense," Kane said.

"Medicaid fraud adversely impacts all of us and especially the beneficiaries of the Medicaid program. I am grateful to our Medicaid Fraud Control Section and the HHS Office of Inspector General for their efforts to eliminate this illegal activity."

The company faces one count of Medicaid Fraud, one count of corrupt organization and one count of participating in illegal activities, in addition to several other charges.
