HARRISBURG – A woman is suing her employer claiming she was disciplined as a result of her medical conditions.
Lisa Conway filed a complaint on Dec. 29 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania against Celtic Healthcare of Carlisle Inc., doing business as Celtic Healthcare, and supervisor Kim Kranz, alleging violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Pennsylvania Human Relations Act.
According to the complaint, Conway was employed by the defendant during a period of six years and worked in the position of a bereavement coordinator. During her time with the defendant, Conway took several leaves which were classified under the Family Medical Leave Act category, as the plaintiff was suffering from depression, the complaint states. After being released from the hospital on one of her medical leaves in June, Conway found out about two deaths in her family. When she returned to work later that month, she claims she was disciplined by Kranz for taking work-related phone calls during a meeting and for allegedly not making provisions for clients while she was out on FMLA leave.
Conway is seeking compensation for all damages suffered and for all legal fees incurred. She is represented by Wayne A. Ely and by W. Charles Shipio of Kolman Ely PC in Penndel.
