Former general manager sues Chuck E. Cheese, alleging age discrimination

PITTSBURGH – A Saegertown woman is seeking damages, claiming discrimination and termination from Chuck E. Cheese.

Debra Corner filed a complaint Feb. 2 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania against CEC Entertainment, doing business as Chuck E. Cheese, and Shawna Vasquez, citing violation of the Pennsylvania Human Relations Act.

Corner was promoted to general manager in 1997, the suit states, due to her performance. In April 2014, Vasquez became her supervisor and informed Corner of her requirement of at least 50 hours of work each week, the suit says. Corner voiced concerns about Vasquez to the general managers in the company, but they allegedly never followed up. Following the departure of the gaming technician, customers complained of negative experiences, which the suit states Corner tried to remedy. On Feb. 3, 2015, Corner was terminated for poor leadership skills, which was inconsistent with her performance review from January. She is suing over claims of age and gender discrimination.

Corner seeks damages for lost wages and benefits, pain, suffering and humiliation, as well as legal fees. She is represented by Wayne A. Ely, W. Charles Sipio and Timothy M. Kolman of Kolman Ely PC in Penndel.
