PHILADELPHIA — A man is suing electrical construction company Carr and Duff Inc. and Thurmond Pace, his former employer and foreman, citing alleged gender discrimination and sexual harassment.

Miguel A. Vasquez filed a complaint on April 11 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against the defendants alleging that they violated the Philadelphia Fair Practices Ordinance and the Pennsylvania Human Relations Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he has suffered damages, was sexually harassed, and waas discriminated against. This caused him to sustain serious and permanent personal injuries, including permanent psychological injuries, the suit says, adding that he also suffers from regular panic attacks and nightmares relating to defendants' conduct. The plaintiff holds Carr and Duff, Inc. and Thurmond Pace responsible because the defendants allegedly engaged in an unlawful discriminatory practice because of his sex and unlawfully terminated him because of his complaint of sexual harassment and opposition to their unlawful practices and in retaliation for his filing a charge with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensation in an amount to be determined at the time of trial, plus interest, punitive, liquidated and statutory damages, attorney's fees, costs, and disbursements and for such other relief as the court may deem just and proper. He is represented by Caroline H. Miller of Derek Smith Law Group PLLC in Philadelphia.
