Man claims telephone harassment by debt collector

Phone 04

PHILADELPHIA — A consumer is suing IC System, a debt collector, citing alleged misrepresentation in debt collection and violation of telephone harassment statutes.

Charles Coleman filed a complaint on May 27 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against IC System, claiming that the debt collector called plaintiff several times in an attempt to collect an alleged debt he owed.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that, between January 2014 and March 2016, he was contacted on his cellular telephone in an attempt to collect a debt despite his request for the calls to stop. The plaintiff holds IC System responsible because the defendant allegedly kept calling despite that request.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks actual damages, statutory damages of $1,000, statutory damages of $500, court costs and any further relief this court grants. He is represented by Amy L. Bennecoff Ginsburg of Kimmel & Silverman, P.C. in Ambler.
