Motorist accused of striking pedestrian

PENNSYLVANIA — A couple's lawsuit against motorist Mario Maurizi alleges negligence and insufficient measures taken to prevent injuries.

Vasant Dani and Nayana Dani filed a complaint on June 30 in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against Maurizi, alleging that the motorist failed to properly control his vehicle, causing injuries to Vasant Dani.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that on April 16, 2015, Vasant Dani sustained severe physical injuries when he was struck by Maurizi's vehicle while standing near an intersection. The plaintiffs holds Maurizi responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to timely apply his brakes and operated his vehicle in a reckless and negligent manner.

The plaintiffs seek judgment against the defendant in an amount in excess of $150,000. They are represented by Thomas R. Yorko of Thomas R. Yorko, P.C. in Philadelphia.
