PHILADELPHIA — A woman is suing Life Insurance Company of North America, an insurance firm, claiming the company improperly denied her long-term disability benefits.
Dolie Brown filed a complaint on July 1 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against Life Insurance Company of North America, alleging that the insurance firm violated the Employee Retirement Income Security Act.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she became disabled and started receiving disability benefits but was suddenly terminated. The plaintiff holds the defendant responsible because the defendant allegedly upheld its decision to deny disability benefits based on unreasonable assumptions and despite her several appeals.
The plaintiff seeks reinstatement of benefits, interest, court costs and any other relief this court grants. She is represented by Joseph Capitan of Martin LLC in Philadelphia.
