PHILADELPHIA — A consumer is suing Transworld Systems Inc. and Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency, citing alleged misrepresentation in debt collection.
Dania Neka Richardson filed a complaint on July 18 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against the defendants, alleging an attempt to collect a debt in which she was not in default.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in January she suffered damages including emotional distress and embarrassment. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because she received a dunning letter and her employer was contacted even though her student loan was not in default.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks actual damages, statutory damages, punitive damages, court costs and any further relief the court grants. She is represented by Mark D. Mailman and Gregory J. Gorski of Francis & Mailman, P.C. in Philadelphia.
