Woman claims Amtrak responsible for injuries

PHILADELPHIA — A passenger is suing National Railroad Passenger Corporation (Amtrak), alleging negligence and insufficient measures taken to prevent injuries.

Delaware resident Mary Loggia filed a complaint on July 15 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against Amtrak, alleging failure to properly assist exiting passengers.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Oct. 29, she sustained physical injuries when her left leg fell between the platform and the passenger car. The plaintiff holds the defendant responsible for allegedly failing to provide adequate supervision to exiting passengers.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount in excess of $150,000. She is represented by Michael J. Olley of Coffey Kaye Myers & Olley in Bala Cynwyd.
