UPMC Mercy, others accused of negligence in connection with intraoperative burns

PITTSBURGH — A patient is suing Vonda Wright, M.D.; University of Pittsburgh Physicians; UPMC Mercy; UPMC Mercy South Side Outpatient Center; and UPMC Health System, alleging negligence in medical care.

Jessica Marchionda filed a complaint on Oct. 18, in the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County against the defendants, alleging that they failed to provide her with proper medical care.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she suffered third-degree burns during hip surgery. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible for allegedly failing to properly perform surgery.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants for compensatory damages in an amount in excess of $50,000 plus interest and court costs. She is represented by Thomas R. Kline and Braden R. Lepisto of Kline & Specter P.C. in Philadelphia.
