Married couple seek damages over injuries alleged from fall in Hyatt hotel

Slip01

PITTSBURGH — A husband and wife are suing MHF Pit Operating IV LLC; Magna Hospitality Group LC; United Maintenance Company Inc.; United Service Companies Inc.; and United Temps Inc., hotel ownership and custodial service providers, alleging negligence in connection with a slip-and-fall injury at the Hyatt Pittsburgh Airport hotel.

William Shepherd and Patricia Shepherd filed a complaint on Oct. 28 in the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County against the defendants, alleging that William Shepherd fell and suffered head injuries because the floor of a hotel was slippery.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that on Feb. 20, 2015, William Shepherd sustained severe physical injuries from falling while exiting an elevator and hitting his head, which required extensive surgery. The plaintiffs hold the defendants responsible because the defendants allegedly allowed the hazardous condition and failed to provide adequate warning of it.

The plaintiffs seek judgment against the defendants in an amount that exceeds the jurisdictional limits of this court. They are represented by Ryan A. Zeli of Zimmer Kunz, PLLC in Pittsburgh.
