Life Insurance Company of North America accused of wrongly denying benefit

Insurance 04

PITTSBURGH — An individual is suing Life Insurance Company of North America, an insurance company, citing alleged breach of contract.

Erin Sprenkle filed a complaint on Jan. 19 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania against Life Insurance Company of North America, alleging that the insurance company denied the plaintiff's application for long-term disability benefits.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in 2011, she became disabled and was granted short-term disability benefits until she applied for a long-term disability benefit that was denied. The plaintiff holds Life Insurance Company of North America responsible because the defendant allegedly refused to pay long-term disability benefits to the plaintiff despite her eligibility according to the terms of the policy.

The plaintiff seeks past due disability benefits, court costs, interest and any further relief this court grants. She is represented by Gregory G. Paul of Morgan & Paul, PLLC in Pittsburgh.
