UPMC Presbyterian Shadyside, others accused of negligence in connection with death

PITTSBURGH — A representative of a deceased man's estate has filed a wrongful death claim alleging negligence in medical care.

Elizabeth M. D'Loss, executrix of the estate of her husband, Richard R. D'Loss, filed a complaint on Dec. 2 in the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County against UPMC Presbyterian Shadyside t/d/b/a UPMC Presbyterian t/d/b/a UPMC Montefiore t/d/b/a UPMC Montefiore Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility and several doctors, alleging that they failed to provide proper medical care to Richard R. D'Loss.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that negligence in care caused and/or contributed to her husband's death. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible for allegedly giving incorrect medications to Richard R. D'Loss and failing to provide adequate supervision to him in order to identify that the medication being given was wrong.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants for compensatory and punitive damages, plus court costs, interest and any further relief this court grants. She is represented by Peter D. Friday of Friday & Cox LLC in Pittsburgh.
