PITTSBURGH - An electrical workers' labor group is suing Star Electric Company Inc., a Pittsburgh contractor, citing alleged breach of contract.

The board of trustees of the Western Pennsylvania Electrical Employees and its related benefit funds, and Chad Jones as agent for the National Electrical Benefit Fund, filed a complaint March 8 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania against Star Electric. The group alleges the employer failed to pay fringe benefit contributions.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege the employees they represent and the organization's funds sustained damages due to unpaid contributions. The plaintiffs hold the defendant responsible because it allegedly breached its contractual agreement with the board of trustees by failing to remit wage deductions from its employees.

The plaintiffs seek permanent injunction against the defendant, an audit, monetary judgment in the sum of $409,869.24 plus additional amounts shown to be owed, interest, liquidated damages, court costs and any further relief the court grants. They are represented by Jeffrey J. Leech and Neil J. Gregorio of Tucker Arensberg PC in Pittsburgh.
