PITTSBURGH — An individual is suing Block Communications Inc. Welfare Plan and Aetna Life Insurance Company, citing alleged breach of contract.
Shari L. Smedley, of Bethel Park, filed a complaint on May 2 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania against the defendants alleging that they wrongly denied plaintiff's claim for benefits.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she was disabled and applied for disability benefits but was denied. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because they allegedly failed to acknowledge plaintiff's physician's findings regarding her disability.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks to declare that the plaintiff is entitled to disability benefits plus interest, court costs and any further relief this court grants. She is represented by Susan A. Meredith of Caroselli Beachler & Coleman LLC in Pittsburgh.
