PHILADELPHIA — A Virginia woman is suing Life Insurance Company of North America, alleging breach of contract when the company terminated her long-term disability contract.

Amanda Carter filed a complaint on June 29 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against Life Insurance Company of North America, alleging that the insurance company refused to pay benefits to the plaintiff.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she was hurt financially from having been denied her disability benefits. The plaintiff holds Life Insurance Company of North America responsible because the defendant allegedly denied plaintiff's disability benefits despite her being disabled according to the terms of the plan, the complaint said.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant in the amount of 60 percent of plaintiff's gross monthly salary, court costs, interest and any further relief the court grants. She is represented by Jamie R. Hall of Law Office of Jamie R. Hall in Kennett Square.
