Couple allege Boston Scientific Corp. device injured man's arm

Medical malpractice 02

PHILADELPHIA – A Plymouth Meeting couple allege the husband was injured because of a medical implant.

Stephen W. Lockard and Mary Lockard filed a complaint on Aug. 9 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against Boston Scientific Corp. alleging negligence and other counts.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that Stephen W. Lockard underwent implantation of the S-ICD and S-ICD LEAD devices manufactured by the defendant on June 15, 2016. He alleges he sustained multiple humeral fractures, a torn rotator cuff and bruising and swelling because of the procedure.

The plaintiffs holds Boston Scientific Corp. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to properly design and manufacture the S-ICD and S-ICD LEAD to insure that it is safe to be used on patients.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment against the defendant in an amount of more than $150,000. They are represented by Jeffrey Kwaritz of Stark & Stark in Yardley.
