PHILADELPHIA – A Broomall employer is alleged to have terminated a Media woman's employment because she requested leave to treat a medical condition.

Angela Giovatto filed a complaint on Aug. 16 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against ConnectAmerica.com LLC, doing business as Medical Alert, alleging violation of the Family and Medical Leave Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff was hired by the defendant at its Media location in 2011 and requested a medical leave on June 15, 2016. She alleges she was terminated the same day on false reasons and believes she was terminated because she requested FMLA leave.

The plaintiff holds Connect America.com LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly retaliated against the plaintiff for exercising her rights under the FMLA.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant for lost pay, lost bonuses, lost benefits, liquidated damages, court costs, interest and any further relief the court grants. She is represented by Richard B. Bateman Jr. of Bateman Law in Media.
