Man alleges he was injured in Ryder Truck Rental tractor-trailer accident in I-80

Semi crash 06

SCRANTON – A New Jersey individual alleges he fractured ribs when the tractor-trailer he was riding in jack-knifed and rolled on Interstate 80.

Jared Dorn filed a complaint on Aug. 18 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania against Conelius Flunory, Guaranteed Express Inc., Ryder System Inc. and Ryder Truck Rental Inc. alleging negligence and other counts.

According to the complaint, on Oct. 25, 2015, the plaintiff was a passenger in a tractor-trailer driven by Flunory and owned by Ryder Truck Rental on Interstate 80 in Luzerne County. The suit states it was raining at the time and as Flunory approached a curve, he failed to negotiate the curve and caused the vehicle to jack-knife and roll onto its side after striking a guardrail. The plaintiff alleges he was thrown from the sleeping compartment of the tractor and fractured three ribs.

The plaintiff holds Flunory, Guaranteed Express Inc., Ryder System Inc. and Ryder Truck Rental Inc. responsible because the Flunory failed to keep the vehicle under control and the other defendants failed to maintain the tires on the tractor-trailer in a reasonably safe manner.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount of more than $75,000 plus interest and court costs. He is represented by James D. Famiglio of James D. Famiglio P.C. in Media.
