Woman seeks disability benefits from Life Insurance Co. of North America

Insurance 08

PHILADELPHIA – A woman formerly employed as a dialysis technician is seeking reinstatement of her long-term disability benefits.

Leslee Engler filed a complaint on Sept. 21 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against Life Insurance Co. of North America citing the Employee Retirement Income Security Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she made a claim to the defendant in June 2012 for disability benefits and that in December 2014, the defendant notified her that her benefits were being terminated.

The plaintiff holds Life Insurance Co. of North America responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to pay benefits at a time when it knew she was disabled and unable to work and failed to properly and adequately investigate the merits of her claim.

The plaintiff seeks payment of the long-term disability benefits due to her, immediate reinstatement, court costs, interest and any further relief the court grants. She is represented by Marc H. Snyder and Kellyanne Inservo of Rosen, Moss, Snyder & Bleefeld LLP in Jenkintown.
