WILKES-BARRE – A Salem Township company is alleged to have retaliated against two employees after they reported a workplace injury.

Secretary of Labor for the United States Department of Labor R. Alexander Acosta filed a complaint on Sept. 27 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania against Susquehanna Nuclear LLC citing the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges employees Matthew Mensch and Vilas Shook were retaliated against by the defendant after reporting a workplace injury in October 2016. The suit states the employees' bonuses were both reduced by several thousand dollars.

The plaintiff seeks to enjoin the defendant, pay damages to Mensch and Shook for lost bonus compensation, court costs and any further relief the court grants. He is represented by Nicholas C. Geale, Oscar L. Hampton III and Andrea J. Appel of Office of the Solicitor, Region III in Philadelphia.
