Law money 09

PHILADELPHIA – A Langhorne woman alleges she was retaliated against by her veterinary employer after her complaints of not receiving overtime pay.

Amy Kieffer filed a complaint on Oct. 20 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against Katrina Jackson, V.M.D.; Bucks County Vets Inc., doing business as Bucks County Vets; and Bucks County Animal Rehabilitation Center LLC, doing  business as BARC citing the Fair Labor Standards Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff was employed by the defendants as a veterinary technician and typically worked 41 to 60 hours per week. She alleges she was not properly paid for all time worked and that the defendants knowingly and intentionally attempted to avoid overtime pay obligations.

The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to pay overtime premiums to the plaintiff and retaliated against her by switching her to a night shift and later terminating her after her complaints of not receiving overtime pay.

The plaintiff seeks compensation of any and all pay and benefits should would have received, punitive and liquidated damages, court costs and any further relief the court grants. She is represented by Ari Karpf of Karpf, Karpf & Cerutti PC in Bensalem.
