Woman alleges Vector Security Inc. unlawfully terminated her for taking FMLA leave

Wrongful term 14

PHILADELPHIA – A Blue Bell resident alleges her Plymouth Meeting employer unlawfully terminated her for taking leave to care for her father.

Tyniesha Fortune filed a complaint on Nov. 27 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against Vector Security Inc. alleging violation of the Family and Medical Leave Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff was hired by the defendant in October 2006 as a service coordinator. The suit states in September 2017, she applied for intermittent FMLA leave to care for her father and it was approved.

She alleges she was terminated on Oct. 31 because she took FMLA leave.

The plaintiff holds Vector Security Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly terminated the plaintiff because she used her rights under FMLA and because she made a complaint of racial discrimination. The suit states the plaintiff is black.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant for lost pay, lost bonuses, lost benefits, financial losses, liquidated damages, court costs, compensatory damages, punitive damages, interest, reinstatement and any further relief the court grants. She is represented by Samuel A. Dion of Dion & Goldberger in Philadelphia.
