PHILADELPHIA — An individual is suing Reading School District for allegedly violating her civil rights.

Jeannette DeAngelo filed a complaint on April 10 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, alleging that the defendant violated the 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she was fired from her job on Jan. 12 for allegedly reporting the misconduct of other teachers, which allegedly caused her to suffer humiliation, exposure to public ridicule and damage to her reputation. The plaintiff holds the defendant responsible for allegedly violating her due process rights when it allegedly terminated her without notice and a hearing.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages in an amount to be determined at trial, plus litigation costs and any further relief the court deems proper. She is represented by Joel A. Ready of Cornerstone Law Firm LLC in Blandon.
