HARRISBURG — A patient is suing the Baltimore Veterans Administration Medical Center for allegedly taking insufficient measures to prevent injuries.
James Leroy Mummert Jr. filed a complaint on April 20 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, alleging that the defendant failed to timely and properly diagnose and evaluate his medical condition.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he has suffered progressive paralysis, paraplegia, a neurogenic bowel and bladder, weakness, pain and disfigurement because the defendant's employee allegedly failed to order a neurosurgery consultation, conduct a CT scan or perform a full neurological examination on him. The plaintiff holds the defendant responsible for allegedly failing to properly and timely diagnose his medical condition.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount that exceeds local arbitration limits, plus interest and costs. He is represented by James J. Waldenberger, David K. Inscho and Elia A. Robertson of Kline & Specter PC in Philadelphia.
