HARRISBURG — An individual is suing State Farm Insurance Companies Group Health & Welfare Plan for United States Employees and several other insurance providers for allegedly breaching an insurance contract.
Theresa M. Elliott filed a complaint on April 20 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, alleging that the defendants violated the Employee Retirement Income Security Act.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that the defendants wrongfully denied her claim for long-term disability benefits. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible for allegedly failing to conduct a full and fair review of her claim.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks an order requiring the defendants to pay her long-term disability benefits, plus attorney's fees, costs and any other proper and appropriate relief. She is represented by Suzanne Tighe of Haggerty, Goldberg, Schleifer & Kupersmith PC in Philadelphia.
