Wrongful term 07

PHILADELPHIA — A sales director is suing Reading Electric Renewables LLC, which does business as RER Energy Group, and Sunvestment Energy Group, citing alleged disability discrimination, retaliation and wrongful termination.

Thomas Palangio filed a complaint June 4 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, alleging that the defendants violated the Americans With Disabilities Act and the Pennsylvania Human Relations Act.

According to the complaint, Palangic was terminated by the defendants, which are joint employers, on Aug. 26, 2014, allegedly because he suffered a serious diabetic issue. The plaintiff said he lost earnings, a pay increase, bonuses and other benefits and suffered emotional distress and pain and suffering as a result of the firing.

Palangic said the defendants are responsible because they allegedly failed to provide reasonable accommodations and terminated him in retaliation for requesting reasonable accommodations.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensatory and punitive damages, reimbursement of attorney's fees, costs and expenses and other legal and equitable relief. He is represented by Jonathan W. Chase of Kraemer, Manes & Associates LLC in Philadelphia.
