Former employee accuses Silver Spring Martin Luther School of wrongful termination

Wrongful term 02

PHILADELPHIA — A former employee is suing Silver Spring Martin Luther School, citing alleged disability discrimination, retaliation and wrongful termination.

Clarisse Cole filed a complaint June 1 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, alleging that the school violated the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Family Medical Leave Act.

According to the complaint, Cole claims she was terminated on June 7, 2017 because of a knee injury. As a result, Cole said she lost earnings, raises, bonuses and other economic benefits and endured emotional pain and suffering and humiliation.

The plaintiff claims the school wrongfully interfered with her ability to take medical leave, failed to engage in an interactive process and retaliated against her by firing her.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks a judgment against the defendant in an amount of not less than $150,000, compensatory and punitive damages, interest, costs, attorney's fees and other just and equitable relief. She is represented by Michael Murphy of Murphy Law Group LLC in Philadelphia.
