MEDIA — A couple are suing Widener University and other entities, citing alleged negligence and premises liability.

Cynthia and David Wright filed a complaint on Jan. 22 in the Delaware County Court of Common Pleas against the defendants, alleging they negligently allowed the sidewalk to deteriorate and remain in an unreasonably unsafe condition.

According to the complaint, on Jan. 25, 2018, Cynthia Wright was walking toward the entrance of Stetser Elementary School when she tripped and fell on an uneven sidewalk. She claims she sustained serious injuries to her head and right knee.

David Wright allegedly has been deprived of the consortium, services and companionship of his spouse. The plaintiffs say the defendants failed to properly remedy the defective condition of the sidewalk and failed to provide adequate warning of the dangerous condition of the sidewalk.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek compensatory damages of more than $50,000, with interest, costs, fees and such other just and equitable relief. They are represented by Valerie Pedicone of Spivack & Spivack LLC in Philadelphia.
