Lawyer

Obermayer issued the following announcement on June 5.

Family law attorney Lanique Roberts will be a panelist at the Dear Black Fathers event. The purpose of the event is to bring members of the Philadelphia Community together to speak about issues affecting black fathers and black families in general. Lanique has been asked to speak about issues that black fathers may face surrounding family law issues and the rights of the father in these instances. She will specifically be answering questions regarding custody rights; how to prepare for child support cases; legal resources for new fathers; and whether she notices a difference in how parties are treated in court based on race, socioeconomic status, criminal record, and representation by counsel.

The Dear Black Fathers panel and discussion will take place on Saturday, June 8th at the Temple University Student Center from 10 A.M. to 1 P.M., followed by a luncheon.

This event is the first installment in the Dear Black Fathers Project, which is a local initiative started by a man who wanted to uplift Black Fathers and provide them with resources that they may not have in certain communities.

Lanique focuses her practice on family matters, such as custody, divorce, child and spousal support, and paternity. She is extremely active in the community, including leadership roles such as the President of the University of Pittsburgh African American Alumni Council Philadelphia Affiliate.
