Active Day of Overbook Park accused of firing employee while on pregnancy-related leave of absence

PHILADELPHIA — An individual is suing her former employer, Senior Care Centers of Pennsylvania Inc. d/b/a Active Day of Overbook Park, for alleged pregnancy discrimination, retaliation and wrongful termination.

Nakisha Jones filed a complaint on April 16 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, alleging that the defendant violated the Pregnancy Discrimination Act and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she was fired in 2017 while she was taking a pregnancy-related leave of absence. As a result of the defendant's alleged actions, the plaintiff claims that she sustained financial damages and pain and suffering. The plaintiff holds the defendant responsible for allegedly retaliating against her by firing her because of her pregnancy-related leave of absence.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensatory and punitive damages, legal fees, costs, expenses and any other equitable relief. She is represented by Jonathan W. Chase of Kraemer, Manes & Associates LLC in Philadelphia.
