Couple sues bank, Philadelphia and its sheriff's office for unlawful retention of foreclosure funds

A Levittown couple is suing the Bank of New York Trust Co., the city of Philadelphia and the Philadelphia Sheriff's Office for allegedly retaining foreclosure funds unlawfully.

According to a lawsuit filed March 19 in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, Lisa and Mark Butterline of Bucks County are suing the Bank of New York Trust Co., the city of Philadelphia and the Philadelphia Sheriff's Office.

The Butterline's seek damages in excess of $150,000, plus costs and interests.

The plaintiffs are represented by attorney Daniel C. Levin of Philadelphia.
