A Philadelphia woman who claims she broke her hip after slipping on the bathroom floor at the city’s newest gaming hall has filed a personal injury complaint against the slots parlor.

Arlene Walker claims in her suit that she sustained a fractured hip and other leg injuries after falling on the floor of the women’s restroom at Philadelphia’s SugarHouse Casino back on Oct. 13, 2011, during a trip to the business, located at 1001 N. Delaware Avenue in Philadelphia’s Fishtown section.

Walker, who resides in the neighboring Port Richmond section, is suing both SugarHouse and HSP Gaming L.P.

The complaint, which was filed at Philadelphia’s Common Pleas Court on June 27 by Philadelphia attorney Michael B. Krupnick, of the firm Dion, Solomon & Shapiro, accuses the defendants of negligence for allowing a dangerous condition to exist on the premises, failing to warn Walker and others of the dangerous condition, failing to provide adequate illumination of the affected area, failing to place warning barricades at the point of the wet floor and negligence as a matter of law.

In addition to her fractured hip and quadriceps pain, Walker suffered knee pain, bruising and a shock to her nervous system, the lawsuit claims.

Walker, the complaint alleges, has incurred financial expenses related to the treatment of her physical injuries, she suffered an aggravation of pre-existing conditions, she has suffered great physical pain and mental anguish, she has been unable to attend to her regular duties and she has suffered a loss of life’s enjoyment, all due to the incident in question.

Walker demands judgment in excess of $50,000.
