USPS worker charged with misappropriating $55K in money orders and cash

A U.S. Postal Service employee from western Pennsylvania has been

indicted by a federal grand jury on a charge of misappropriation of postal funds.

The one-count indictment charges Jessica L. Croyle, 32, of Greensburg, Westmoreland County, with wrongfully converting to her own use postal money orders and cash having a total value of $55,362.90.

Croyle, who was employed by the U.S. Postal Service at a Latrobe, Pa. post office, allegedly committed the crimes between Nov. 1, 2012 and July 19, 2013.

If found guilty, Croyle faces up to 10 years in federal prison, a $250,000 fine, or both, according to the office of U.S. Attorney David J. Hickton in the Western District of Pennsylvania, which announced the indictment on Tuesday.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Mary McKeen Houghton is prosecuting the case on behalf of the government.

The United States Postal Service, Office of Inspector General conducted the investigation leading to the grand jury indictment against Croyle.
