Suit claims Risperdal caused gynecomastia

A man is suing a drug company stating the medications caused him harm.


Donald L. Furgeson Jr. filed a lawsuit Feb. 25 in the Philadelphia County Court of Common Pleas against Janssen Pharmaceuticals, Inc., John & Johnson Co., Johnson & Johnson Pharmaceutical Research and Development L.L.C., Excerpta Medica Inc. and Elsevier Inc., citing negligence, fraud, liability, breach of warranty and violation of the Pennsylvania Unfair Trade Practices and Consumer Protection Law.

The lawsuit states Furgeson was caused injury by the medication Risperdal and that it caused gynecomastia, weight gain and emotional and psychological injuries. He took the drug in from 1999 through 2000.

Furgeson is demanding a jury trial. He is being represented by Brian J. McCormick Jr. of Sheller P.C.
