Former prison employee sues Sci-Fayette Department of Corrections, claims gender discrimination

Jail

A Fayette County former prison employee has filed suit against his former employer alleging that he was discriminated against and forced to resign because of his gender.

Gary Crayton filed a lawsuit Oct. 12 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania against Sci-Fayette Department of Corrections, citing sexual (gender) discrimination, retaliation and violations of the Pennsylvania Human Rights Act.

According to the complaint, the defendants sexually harassed Crayton by subjecting him to numerous adverse employment actions, forcing him to resign in lieu of termination in March. The plaintiff alleges the defendant's conduct relates back to a false complaint for sexual harassment made against him by a female employee in July 2014. Crayton was hired by the defendant in July 2000.

Crayton is seeking back pay, lost future wages, attorney fees, liquidated damages and litigation costs. He is represented by Joel S. Sansone and Massimo A. Terzigni of the Law Offices of Joel Sansone of Pittsburgh.
