HARRISBURG — A woman suffering from chronic Krohn's Disease and diabetes alleges that two hospitals in the commonwealth and their staff violated the Americans with Disabilities Act, and the Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act.
Kathleen Langston filed suit in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania on Oct. 14 alleging the defendants, Dr. Evangelos Massaris, Dr. Walter Kothul, Dr. Madhavi Singh, The Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and the Mount Nittany Medical Center recklessly and negligently treated her for Krohn's Disease and renal failure following a 2013 ileostomy, while also disregarding federal mandates.
In addition to allegedly misinforming Langston of the risks involved with the surgery and failing to make accommodations for her chronic health conditions, the suit said the defendants were careless regarding the plaintiff's well being including releasing her from both hospitals prematurely.
Langston is seeking unspecified damages, plus attorney fees and costs of litigation. She is represented by Aaron David Frishberg of Mt. Vernon, New York and Bonnie L. Kift of Ligonier, Pennsylvania.
