A Fort Lauderdale woman is suing her former employer over allegations of a hostile work environment, sexual harassment and more.

Sharon Schall filed suit on Nov. 12 against Biocompatibles International LLC in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, citing violations of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 as well as the Pennsylvania Human Relations Act.

Schall alleges she worked for the defendant from October 2011 until May 31, 2014, as a territory sales manager after the company she had previously been working for was acquired by defendant. Schall further claims that during the course of her employment she was subjected to sexual harassment, gender and religious discrimination, and after rejecting the unwanted advances of a senior executive, was retaliated against, constructively discharged, not paid additional earned compensation, and was not allowed to return to her prior position after a transfer.

In addition to these experiences, Schall alleges that disparaging comments were made about her to her new supervisors and that the executive who made the unwanted advances towards her told others that he had had relations with her. According to the complaint's allegations, Schall reported these activities and behaviors and never received any support or resolution to her complaints. She claims that she was discouraged from pursuing better positions within the company that were later awarded to male co-workers with the same level of experience after being advised she did not have the right qualifications. Despite having won a sales competition, Schall states, she was never paid her contest winnings.

Schall seeks recovery of compensatory as well as punitive damages in addition to costs and other relief. She is represented by Stephanie Kindt of KindtLaw LLC located in Philadelphia.
