Parents sue Butler Memorial Hospital claiming negligence as cause of their son's death

Hospital

A Highland Heights, Ohio couple is suing a certain Pennsylvania hospital, alleging negligence in their son's death after his treatment at the facility.

Carol and Michael Revello filed a claim on Sep. 1 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania against Butler Healthcare Providers, doing business as Butler Memorial Hospital, Dr. Geoffrey Mann, Butler Emergency Physicians Associates and nurse Joanne Mahlmeister, citing negligence and liability.

The plaintiffs purport that on June 1, 2013, Andrew Revello was involved in a head-on collision in Butler. Following the crash, Revello was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital during which time he repeatedly complained of back and hip pain. After admittance and the running of several tests, Revello was discharged from Butler Memorial Hospital. On June 2, 2013, Revello was admitted to The Cleveland Clinic Health System - Hillcrest Hospital after complaints of severe pain, and was diagnosed with lumbar spine fractures, fecal peritonitis and sepsis, among other conditions. On June 10, 2013, Revello died. The Revellos are claiming that the hospital was negligent in its failure to detect complications and failure to consult multiple medical experts.

The Revellos are seeking full monetary compensation for emotional, legal and physical losses. They are represented by Aaron P. Berg and Donald E. Caravona of Caravona and Berg, LLC in Cleveland and Jon D. Eddy of Eddy, Deluca, Gravina and Townsend in Pittsburgh.
