PITTSBURGH – A Clarion couple is suing a manufacturing corporation and a grocer following an incident in which the plaintiff sustained serious injuries, claiming the companies' negligence was the cause.
Thomas W. Hook and his wife Patti Hook filed a complaint on Oct. 30 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania against Whiting Door Manufacturing Corp. and C and S Wholesale Grocers Inc., alleging negligence.
The plaintiffs claim that on Nov. 4, 2013, while Hook was delivering groceries with a semitrailer belonging to C and S Wholesale Grocers, which was manufactured by Whiting Door, there was a malfunction of one of the rolling doors. Despite warranties and multiple claims that the use of the doors was safe, Hook alleges he suffered serious injuries to his back, ribs and bones when he pulled on the strap of the truck's door which detached from the door and caused Hook to fall.
The plaintiff alleges that it the defendants were negligent in the maintenance of their vehicles.
The Hooks are seeking compensation of $75,000 for all damages suffered. They are represented by Richard J Schubert in Pittsburgh.
