PHILADELPHIA – A Boyertown woman is suing her employer alleging that she was demoted because of reporting sexual harassment at her workplace.
Kathleen Heimbach filed a complaint on Oct. 30 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against her employer, Reading Powder Coating Inc. and Tiger Drylac USA Inc., alleging sexual harassment, hostile work environment, retaliation and violations of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Pennsylvania Human Relations Act.
Heimbach purports that during her employment with the defendant, she was the victim of sexual harassments and advances. On March 3, 2010, a co-worker discovered a hidden camera in the women's bathroom, which was allegedly placed in the location by a fellow employee, according to the complaint. After reporting the incident, Heimbach claims she received a demotion at work. Following a second complaint, this time to the police, Heimbach was overlooked for a promotion for which she was highly qualified, the complaint states. The plaintiff is suing the defendant, claiming that the actions of her employer were sexually inappropriate and that she was discriminated against for her gender.
Heimbach is seeking compensation of more than $150,000 for all damages suffered. She is represented by Keith J. Cohen of the Law Offices of Keith J. Cohen in Blue Bell.
